The immediate past Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Lamorde, has travelled abroad for medical treatment.
This came to light on Tuesday as Lamorde, who was due to appear before the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, was absent.
His lawyer, Festus Keyamo, told the lawmakers that Lamorde had gone abroad for medical treatment.
He is being probed by the Senate for alleged mismanagement of N1 trillion recovered from suspects in cases handled by the EFCC under him.
The large chunk of the money was said to have been recovered from former Inspector General of Police, Tafa Balogun, and the late Governor of Bayelsa State, Dipreye Alamieyeseigha.
