Anambra Speaker, Udeze, felicitates Muslims, calls for religious tolerance
Mr. Somtochukwu Udeze, Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, has enjoined Muslims to always promote the values of universal justice, peace, mutual understanding, and love in their religious obligations.
Udeze made the call in his 2024 Goodwill Message to Muslim Faithful in Nigeria on behalf of the State Legislature.
His call is contained in a press statement made available to journalists in Awka on Monday through the press secretary, Mr. Emma Madu.
Udeze said that Ramadan symbolises holiness, dedication to worship, and charity work.
“Muslims should stick to the essence of the feast by exhibiting those virtues that will further unite the people and uplift the nation at all times.
“Muslims should strive to maintain peaceful coexistence and harmonious relationships with their Christian brothers in the interest of peace,” he said.
He called for tolerance among different religious bodies in the country for a prosperous nation.
The speaker urged Muslims to strive to maintain peaceful coexistence and harmonious relationships with their Christian brothers in the interest of peace and the progress of the country.
Udeze described Muslim faithful in Anambra State as being lucky to operate under Gov. Chukwuma Soludo.
“The governor has continued to provide them with the enabling environment to propagate their faith.
“Udeze enjoined them to reciprocate the governor’s gesture by giving his administration the necessary support,” he urged.
Udeze expressed the hope that with fervent prayers from the Muslims and other religious groups, the country will develop faster.
He said with sincerity and uprightness on the part of the political leaders that the current economic and security challenges confronting the country will be surmounted.
He assured that the State Legislature will continue to enact laws and resolutions aimed at promoting peaceful coexistence, the development of the state, and the well-being of all citizens.
Udeze urged Muslims in the state to continue to operate within the laws of the state and enjoy the hospitality of the Anambra people and government. (NAN)
