Ohanaeze Youth Council Extols Nnamdi Kanu for Legal Education in Court

The Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC), representing the apex socio-cultural youth organization of Ndigbo, has commended Mazi Nnamdi Kanu for his efforts in educating Justice Binta Nyako and legal counsel to the Federal Government, Mr. Solomon Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN), on the intricacies of Nigerian law during his ongoing court case.

Following the Federal High Court’s denial of bail to Nnamdi Kanu in Abuja on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, the national President General of the Ohanaeze Youth Council, Comrade Igboayaka O Igboayaka, expressed concerns regarding what he perceives as the undue influence of the Federal Government, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Justice Binta Nyako.

Comrade Igboayaka alleged that the facial expressions of Justice Binta Nyako during Nnamdi Kanu’s courtroom remarks suggest a bias influenced by the directives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He further criticized Justice Nyako’s failure to reference the Supreme Court’s silence on granting bail to Nnamdi Kanu, instead emphasizing his alleged breach of bail conditions.

The OYC president highlighted the Supreme Court’s condemnation of the 2017 Operation Python Dance, which resulted in the loss of over 200 innocent lives, and asserted that Nnamdi Kanu’s departure from Nigeria was due to threats on his life by the Nigerian military, not a breach of bail.

Comrade Igboayaka emphasized that Nnamdi Kanu’s abduction from Kenya by the Nigerian government, in collaboration with Kenyan authorities, violates international and local laws, making any trial in Nigeria illegitimate.

Drawing parallels with past diplomatic incidents, Comrade Igboayaka urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to discontinue what he termed “executive rascality and impunity” and seek a political solution to Nnamdi Kanu’s case, warning that continued delay could exacerbate Nigeria’s existing challenges.

In conclusion, the Ohanaeze Youth Council called for Nnamdi Kanu’s unconditional release as a step towards restoring peace and stability in Nigeria.
