The 3 tiers of govt. buoyant under Tinubu -LG chairman

The Chairman, Badagry Local Government Area, Mr Olusegun Onilude, says President Bola Tinubu, has helped the three tiers of government in Nigeria to be financially buoyant.

Onilude disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Badagry, while speaking on the President’s first year in office.

According to him, under the  Tinubu-led administration, the three tiers of government, Federal, State and Local Government authorities are getting more money from monthly allocations.

“Every month, allocation comes in trillions.

“What this translates to is for the people to start benefiting and start seeing the impact of the increase in revenue.

“This is a good step,” he said.

Onilude also said that Tinubu in the first year,  made traveling easy in the country.

According to the chairman, for those traveling now, they find it easy, getting a passport is no longer what it used to be, where you have to wait for months or a year to get one, like it used to be.

“Before, if you want to correct mistakes in your passport, you will have to go to Abuja but now, it is not compulsory.

“Anywhere you are in the country, you can sort yourself out, things have changed,” he said.

In the area of insecurity, Onilude commended  the President, for reducing the frequent attacks by  bandits and insurgents.

According to him, though the security is not yet perfect but the frequency of attacks has reduced.

The chairman said that electricity supply had improved compared with two to three years ago, where communities could go for months without it.

“However, more needs to be done in this sector, to make electricity supply constant and steady.

Onilude also lauded the Tinubu-led administration for ensuring that work continued on the Agbara-Badagry Expressway.

“Since 2023, when the contractor handling the project resumed work on the expressway, he has not looked back or withdrawn service.

“This is very unusual, the first lane of the expressway has been completed since Dec. 2023, we are hopeful that  the second one will be completed soon,” he said.

Onilude appealed to Nigerians to be patient with the Tinubu administration, adding that one year is not enough to reshape the country.

According to the chairman, Tinubu has come to do a very difficult job.

“A very difficult job in the sense that the system is already bad.

“Tinubu has come to strengthen a system that is rotten already.

“When abnormalities have become the norm, to strengthen such, of course, you step on toes and you expect people to fight back.”

According to him, for someone to come in at that time , the first thing he will do is to lay the rules before building on it.

“That is what Tinubu is doing now, and  the result will not show immediately  for anyone doing such.

“And by nature, Nigerians are impatient, we want results almost immediately but it doesn’t work like that, it takes time for things to materialise.’

The chairman, however, urged Nigerians to  be patient with the Tinubu-led administration. (NAN)
