Government activities in Taraba state have suddenly nosedived following the unanimous decision of the organized labour to embark on a three day w

arning strike to press home their demands.
Wondering why the government, in spite of the massive resources at it disposal has continue to trampled on workers rights, both the state branch of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress ( TUC), have decided to take the bull by the horn by ensuring that government activities are brought down on its kneels.
The ongoing warning strike which has sent tensions into the marrow bones of the government as noticed by our reporter, made the leadership of the organized labour to sealed off the premises of government establishment.
The situation, which made top government officials to lack access to their offices, was described by some of the government officials who bared their minds to our state correspondent as ” great embarrassment.”
In a released signed by the secretaries of both NLC and TUC and made available to newsmen in the state, ” the insensitivity of the Taraba state government to the Taraba state workers and pensioners” as made known by them is the reason for the ongoing warning strike.
Signed by both Solomon Obaje, of the NLC and his TUC counterpart, Tukur A. Taji, noted that the state government, has always being handling issues that have to do with workers with kid glove hands.
The government as further stated in the press statement has failed to ” addressed the abnormalities ranging from underpayments of salaries, omission of genuine workers from salary vouchers, illegal deductions from workers salaries.”
Other reasons attached to the apron string of the ongoing warning strike are “removal of approved allowance, none circularization of salaries of Local Government workers, none payment of primary school teachers salaries, to mention just a few.”
Should the government failed to attend to the aforementioned demands of the workers on or before the expiration of the three days, organized labour, according to its leadership would be left with no any other option than to embark on an indefinite strike.
Stressing that ” in an attempt to rescue Taraba state, Labour is now out to rescue the rescuer” the Labour leaders, admonished workers not to be deter by any form of intimidation, threats or harassment from the government.
The rescue agenda of the state government, the organized labour believed would ” hardly see the light of the day” should the government continue to denied workers their legitimate rights.
Should the government fail to attend to the demands of workers before the expiration of the three days working strike, labour, as made known by its leadership, would be compel to embark on full blown strike action.
From the government coffer, our state correspondent reliably gathered that relevant efforts, to engage the leadership of organized labour in dialogues that would yield positive results are ongoing.
