Delta State House of Assembly has dissolved the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission(DESOPADEC) for lack of performance.

This was sequel to a motion moved  on the floor of the House under Matters of Urgent Public Importance by the member representing Isoko South 11 state constituency and Deputy Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Johnson Erijo, seconded by Hon. Martin Okonta representing Ika South state constituency and was unanimously adopted by the entire house.

The House said the members were not carrying out their duties, thereby causing the state government disgrace.

The House however, directed all former members of DESOPADEC to immediately hand over all government property at their possession.

The Lawmakers has requested Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan to constitute a new committee that will handle the affairs of DESOPADEC in the state.

In  another development, the Legislators screened and confirmed a 4-man Delta State Sports Commission, headed by Mr. Amaju Melvin Pinnick.

Other members of the commission include Hon. Ejiro Imoniwera Etoroma, Elder Najite Eddington Kuejubola and Hon. Gabriel Okpuno.
