Global Transportation Policy Training Academy (GTP) has stressed the need for synergy in the operations of traffic management agencies, to achieve the best.

The chairman of GTP, Mr Segun
Musa disclosed this on Friday in Lagos, while declaring open a one-day train-the-trainers workshop .

The workshop was for personnel of the Nigeria Police, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and Lagos State Transport Management Agency (LASTMA).

Themed “Improving Traffic Management: Leveraging on Emotional Intelligence Skills.” it was organised by GTP in collaboration with the three bodies.

Musa said that GTP, worried by the heavy traffic in Lagos State, was organising the free training for  uniformed personnel, with a view to uniting them in carrying out their duties.

“We appreciate what you have been doing, we want you — Police, LASTMA and FRSC to do more.

We want all of you to align with the best practices in traffic management.

“We don’t want to know the winner, we want synergy; authorities may differ, but the work is for one Nigeria.

We are all colleagues. We are working for same aims and objectives.

“Anywhere you see a LASTMA official, he is representing the police; anywhere you see FRSC, he is representing LASTMA.

The most important thing is that the job is well done,” he said.

Musa pointed out that after the training, the public would begin to see changes.

He was optimistic of a brand-new FRSC, LASTMA and police in traffic management.

Musa said GTP would hold a mega rally on traffic management with the police, LASTMA and FRSC in Lagos before the end of 2024.

He said that the mega rally on traffic management would take place after the series of trainings currently going on.

“Once we are through with Lagos State, we are moving to Abuja, Kano and Port Harcourt.

“We want to ensure that the training goes round the country,” he said.

The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr Olalekan Oki, represented by one of his deputies, Mr Jubril Oshodi, commended GTP for the training.

He said that such exercise would go a long way to unite the agencies for a better job.

Oki advised all agencies responsible for traffic management never to see themselves as rivals, rather, as partner in different uniforms working towards one goal.

The FRSC Sector Commander in Lagos State, Mr Mr Patrick Davou, was represented by Deputy Corps Commander, Mr Usman Emmanuel.

He said only united agencies would bring about the best traffic management in Lagos and Nigeria in general.

He commended GTP for the training, assuring the group of the command’s commitment to a better traffic management in Lagos State. (NAN
