Mr Dele Oshinowo made the call while addressing stakeholders at a security and peace meeting in the council area on Monday.
The council boss acknowledged that that there were challenges in the country at the moment but called for dialogue and constructive engagements to address them.
Osinowo said there was the need for all stakeholders to agree on peace and security in the area and not allow any breach of public order under the guise of protest.
He said: “The cost of living is high, we know, but the solution is not protest because it is the people that will suffer it.
“It is going to come back to the ordinary man after the protester might have destroyed lives and property and livelihood of the people. We need to embrace peace, dialogue and discussion.
“Here in Agboyi Ketu, we should not condone protest. Yes, it is your right to protest, but you cannot cause mayhem and paralyse the economy of others.
“The people of Agboyi-Ketu: the youths, the elderly, the market women, the transporters the non indigenes have agreed that “no to protest” in Agboyi-Ketu and by extension in Lagos State.”
According to him, President Bola Tinubu, has been doing a lot to revive the nation’s economy in order to take it to the path of prosperity.
He said that the efforts and reforms of the President would soon materialise, urging citizens to be patient with the president .
The council boss added: “Some people have been paid to hijack the protest, don’t do it. Don’t be used to cause mayhem, let us avoid protest.
“The proposed protest might be hijacked. Please, I am begging you, let us not allow this protest to go on. I will plead with our youths to shun this protest.
“The security reports show that some elements are planning to hijack the protest and that is the reason we called for this peace and security summit in Agboyi-Ketu.”
According to him, the state and the council cannot easily forget the arson and destruction that attended the 2020 EndSar protests.
He said that the more than 200 BRT buses were burnt during the protests and that it was innocent residents that suffered the consequences.
He added: “The sponsors of this protest want to shut down the government but we are saying ” no to protest’in Agboyi-Ketu.
“We are not going to be part of it and people of the area will continue to support the government of the president.”

Also speaking, a former Council Chairman, Chief Yetunde Arobieke said that Agboyi Ketu must not allow protest, saying many of the President’s reforms will soon yield fruits.
Arobieke urged the youth, members of transport unions and other stakeholders to embrace peace, stating that the President was not sleeping but working hard to tackle the socio-economic challenges facing the nation.
A community influencer, Mr Akeem Oluwa, added that everyone in the council should reject protest because it could lead to destructions.
“No to protest, it destroys public property, escalate tension and send negative signals to the outside world and affects economy.
“Let us caution our children not to destroy public property,” he said.
Many of the stakeholders who took turns to speak during the meeting urged government to expedite actions to tackle inflation and insecurity in order to alleviate the sufferings of the masses.
They called for price control of goods and services and urged government to check harassment of citizens by security agents.
NAN reports that some of the stakeholders at the meeting included market men and women, community leaders, traditional rulers, members of transport unions, non-indigenes, security agents, students and teachers, members of the various unions. (NAN
