The Commandant of the College, Rear Admiral Olumuyiwa Olotu, said the participants had been equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to face the diverse problems occasioned by the complexities of the current global environment.
Olotu said the college had achieved its mission through a nine-module course curriculum comprising subject areas such as renewable technology, science and technology, conflict and war studies, policy formulation and analysis, as well as strategic leadership, among others.
According to him, the modules were delivered through a series of lectures, seminars, study tours, research paper writing, and exercises under a broad theme entitled “Strengthening National Unity for Security and Development in Nigeria”.
“The last module of the course, which is the ninth, is dedicated to the higher management of the defence package, involving exercises that simulate real-life scenarios and a review of national defence and security policies,” he said.
Olotu added that the participants had received specific training in strategic decision-making, future strategic perspectives, net analysis, and policy implementation.
“It is therefore envisaged that this set of participants will contribute to proffering implementing solutions to current and future national, regional, and global challenges,” he said.
The commandant also said the college had researched and delivered higher management of defence papers to the President for the first time.
According to him, the President’s paper for this year was titled “Announcing the Mining Industry for National Security and Development, Strategic Options for Nigeria by the Year 2025”.
“The participants from the Armed Forces of Nigeria and the Nigerian Police Force also researched and presented future perspective solutions to the Service Chiefs and Inspector General of Police, respectively. ”
The Commandant thanked President Tinubu for the tremendous support given to the college.
He added that the President’s support had enabled it to improve its facilities and complete the first phase of its 5MW solar energy sustainability project for generating 1MW of solar power for the complex.
“This is in line with the energy sustainability pillar of the Renewable Agenda of the current administration of Mr President,” he added.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the high point of the event was the presentation of certificates to the participants and awards of excellence to deserving participants for best research papers.
