The Nigerian Navy has arrested 12 persons for vandalising PHCN cables in Apapa area, Lagos, the Commander, NNS BEECROFT, Cdr. Chris Ezekobe, said on Tuesday.
Ezekobe said when he presented the suspects to the public that the arrest was made during a raid on the hideouts of the suspected criminals.
He said a 21-year-old lady was among those arrested.
“Early in March, a combined team of naval personnel, policemen and Lagos State Government officials raided Leventis and Ijora Olopa and several arms were recovered.
“This morning, our men raided the area and 12 persons suspected to have been involved in the illegal act were arrested,” he said.
The commander also said that cutlasses, diggers, hammers and many wraps of weed suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered from the suspects.
