Nigerian born British athlete Ms Christine Ohuruogu has described her victory at the ongoing World Championship in Moscow as a record breaking goal, not expected at the event..

Ohuruogu made the remarks in an interview monitored online by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in London.

Ohuruogu who won a gold medal in a time of 49.41 seconds, said her desire was to break the British 400 metres record, rather than winning a goal.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that, the record was set at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic by Kathy Cook

when Ohuruogu was just 11 weeks old.

“It’s a record as old as I am, it is one thing I wanted more than anything else, to come back with’’

“We have been working on it since the start of the season, so it’s a bit unexpected to get there to win and come home with a national record. This was not quite what I had in mind,’’

“Well, it’s almost too good to be true” the 29 year gold medalist  said.

Ohuruogu will also partake in the four by 400 m relay slated for Friday.

The championship is holding in Moscow.(NAN)
