Ibadan, Jan.29, 2026(NAN) A 38-year-old man, Oluwatayo Ayetuo, on Thursday, appeared before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan for allegedly defrauding one of N1.19 billion over a traveling document.
Ayetuo, whose address was not provided, is charged with obtaining money under false pretence and stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Insp Femi Omilana told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometime in October 2025, at Apete, Ibadan.
He alleged that the defendant fraudulently obtained the sum of N1.19 million from one Adeyinka Adeyemo, under the pretext of processing Canada traveling document for him.
He alleged that the defendant failed to do so but rather converted the money to his personal use.
Omilana said the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 390(9) and 419 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Adebola Adeola, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N2 million and two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until March 23, for hearing. (NAN)
