Police arraign man, 32, for allegedly stealing cell phone

Ado-Ekiti, Feb.20, 2026 (NAN) The police, on Friday, arraigned a 32-year-old man, Faseun Ojo, at an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a cell phone.

The defendant, of no fixed address, is standing trial on a one-count charge of stealing.

The prosecutor, Insp Olubu Apata, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Feb.9, at about 06:00 a.m in Ikogosi-Ekiti.

He alleged that the defendant stole one Techno spark 10 phone valued at N170, 000 belonging to one David Olamide.

Apata said the offence contravened Section 302(1) (a) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.

He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him study the file and assemble his witnesses.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.

Counsel to the defendant, Mrs Blessing Falaye, urged the court to grant the defendant bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.

In her ruling, the Magistrate, Mrs Olubunmi Bamidele, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum.

She adjourned the case until March 18, for hearing.(NAN)
