Ibadan, Feb. 26, 2026(NAN) The Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN) and the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) are taking steps to enhance collaboration on environmental protection.
A strategic courtesy visit by NESREA’s South-West zone team, led by the Acting Zonal Director, Mr. Peniel Jack, on Thursday to the FRIN’s Director-General, Prof. Zachariah Yaduma, marked the beginning of this strengthened partnership.
During the visit, Jack commended the leadership of FRIN’s D-G in driving climate change mitigation efforts through tree planting initiatives.
He disclosed that NESREA values FRIN’s expertise and leadership role in ensuring environmental sustainability and forest resources conservation globally.
“We look forward to leveraging the strong relationship between the two agencies’ leadership for more impactful collaborations that will help in environmental protection in the southwest and Nigeria at large,” he said.
FRIN’s Director of Research and Coordinating Department, Dr. Osikabor Benson, also commended the renewed collaboration between the two organisations and emphasised its potential for achieving shared environmental goals.
In his response, the DG-FRIN applauded the partnership and pledged continued synergy between FRIN and NESREA. (NAN)
