Ado-Ekiti, Feb. 26, 2026(NAN) A 22-year-old man, Kabiru Musa, on Thursday appeared before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing cell phone valued at N35, 000.
Musa, whose address was not provided, is facing a charge of stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp Olubu Apata, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Feb. 20 at about 12:00 noon in Ado-Ekiti.
He alleged that the defendant stole one Tecno phone worth N35,000 belonging to the complainant, Owolawi Adekunle.
Apata said that the offence contravened Section 302(1) (a) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him study the case file and assemble his witnesses.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.
Counsel to the defendant, Mr Gboyega Abiola, urged the court to grant the defendant bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.
In her ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Mrs Taiwo Ajibade, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N5,000 with one surety in like sum.
She adjourned the case until March 30 for hearing.(NAN)
