Motorcyclist arraigned over alleged theft of unregistered motorcycle

Okitipupa (Ondo State), Feb. 27, 2026 (NAN) A 27-year-old motorcyclist, Jose Iyamoni, on Friday appeared before an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State for allegedly stealing an unregistered Qlink motorcycle valued at N1 million.

The defendant, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge bordering on stealing.

The Police Prosecutor, ASP Ayodeji Omoyeigha, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Oct. 19, 2025, at about 3.00 p.m. at Cele Oluso Agutan Street along Okitipupa-Ikoya Road.

Omoyeigha alleged that the defendant forcefully took an unregistered blue Qlink motorcycle with Chassis No: QLKPCKBITT11247 and Engine No: QLI62FMJ-IPTT09116, valued at N1,055,000, belonging to one Ojo Efe-Philip.

He said the offences contravened Sections 390 (9) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Mayowa Olanipekun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like sum.

The magistrate ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and provide evidence of two years’ tax payment to the Ondo State Government.

The case was adjourned until March 13 for further hearing. (NAN)
