Man, 37, in court for alleged N2.5m fraud

Ibadan, March 4, 2026 (NAN) A 37-year-old Sangodoyin Olarenwaju, on Wednesday appeared before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court Ibadan, over an alleged N2.5 million fraud.

Olanrewaju, whose address was not provided, was charged with conspiracy, obtaining money under false pretense and stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, ASP Olagoke Adegbenro, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on March 23, 2025, at about 4.00 p.m, at Soka area of Ibadan.

He alleged that the defendant fraudulently obtained the money from one Kehinde Usman, with the pretext of helping her to process proof of fund.

He alleged that the defendant failed to do so but converted the money to his personal use.

Adegbenro said that the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 390(9), 419 and 516 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Mrs Olasinmibo Sanusi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of one million naira and two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case until March 23, for hearing. (NAN)
