Lagos, March 13, 2026 (NAN) A 37-year-old driver, Olawale Aje, on Friday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, for alleged sexual assault on a two-year-old girl.
Aje, who resides at 16 Gospel St., Mosalashi in Alagbado area of Lagos, is facing a one-count charge of sexual assault, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, ASP Adegoke Ademigbuji, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Jan. 22 at Mosalashi, Alagbado.
Adegoke said the defendant carried the girl to back of a building and began touching her private parts.
He said that the mother had left her daughter in the care of another woman to run some errands.
“When the mother returned and could not find her child, they both search for her, and found her with the defendant, who had undressed her,” he said.
Ademigbuji said the offence contravened Section 135 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Omolara Kushanu, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until April 8 for mention. (NAN)
