Man, 52, docked over alleged stealing of items valued N3.7m

Ibadan, March 27, 2026, (NAN) A man, Olaoluwa Adedeji, 52, on Friday, appeared  before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrate’s Court, Ibadan, charged with breaking into a house and stealing household items valued N3,750,000.

The defendant, whose address was not provided, is facing two counts of burglary and stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, ASP Tunji Olaniyi, informed the court that the defendant committed the offences on Feb. 16, at about 9.00 a.m.

Olaniyi alleged that the defendant broke into the house of one Mr Olaniyi Olugbemi.

Olaniyi alleged that the defendant stole electrical wire valued N1 million, four inverter batteries valued N1, 600, 000, 12.5kg gas cylinder valued N50, 000 and decoration frame valued N100, 000.

The prosecutor put the total value of stolen items at N3, 750, 000, property of Olugbemi of Aba – Ilori, Agbofieti area, Apata, Ibadan.

Olaniyi said the offence contravened  section 383 and punishable under section 390 (9) and 411 (i) and (ii) of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.

The Magistrate, Mr . M. Mudashiru admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N2 million, with two sureties in like sum.

Mudashiru said that one of the sureties must have balance of N3 million in his bank account, while the second surety must be blood relative of the defendant.

He, thereafter, adjourned the matter until May 5, for hearing. (NAN)
