The Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (KADSEMA) says it is strengthening collaborations with stakeholders and development partners to prevent flooding.
Usman Mazadu, the Executive Secretary of KADSEMA, said this on the sidelines of the agency’s stakeholders’ meeting, on flood preparedness and emergency response, in Kaduna.
He reiterated that the agency would continue to collaborate with development partners, government institutions and humanitarian organizations to improve emergency response systems.
“KADSEMA remains focused on protecting lives, property and vulnerable communities, through proactive planning and collective action.
‘The success recorded by the agency, in 2025 , was largely due to sustained support from stakeholders and partner organizations,
“We worked together as humanitarian actors to ensure that communities and public infrastructure remained safe,” he said.
Mazadu said the agency would continue to engage technical experts and other professionals to strengthen disaster management efforts across the state.
He added that KADSEMA had also introduced institutional reforms, policy frameworks and strategic plans aimed at improving coordination during emergencies.
The executive secretary said the agency had placed greater emphasis on preventive measures and early warning systems rather than reactive interventions.
He identified the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and Christian Aid, among the development partners supporting the state, in developing disaster management policies and operational guidelines.
According to him, the state government had also strengthened support for preparedness, coordination ahead of the 2026 rainy season.
Mazadu, however, urged communities and relevant stakeholders to take precautionary measures, based on flood forecasts issued by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) and the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA).(NAN)
