A 34-year-old domestic staff, Sarah Simon, was on Thursday sentenced to three months imprisonment for stealing her employer’s iPhone 15 series worth N870,000.
Simon, a resident of Narayi Kaduna, was sentenced after she pleaded guilty to stealing the phone.
The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, sentenced Simon to three months imprisonment with an option of N20,000 fine and warned her to refrain from criminal activities.
He cautioned that future offenses would attract harsher penalties.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Chidi Leo, told the court that Simon was arrested after one Abigael Gwazah reported the theft at Narayi Police Station.
Leo said that the convict, who is a domestic staff to the complainant, stole her iPhone worth N870,000.
The prosecutor added that during police investigation, the phone was traced to one Moses Danjuma, who told the police that the convict sold it to him.
Leo said the offence contravened the Kaduna State Penal Code, 2017.
The convict had begged the court to temper justice with mercy, claiming it was hunger and the devil that made her commit the offence.(NAN)
