A 35-year-old commercial motorcyclist, Gbenga Arikawe on Friday appeared before an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State, over alleged assault.
The defendant whose address was not given, is facing a two-count charge of assault and threat to life.
The prosecutor, Insp Ayodeji Omoyeigha told the court that the defendant committed the offences on April 23 around 2:00p.m on Ayeka/Igbodigo road in Okitipupa.
Omoyeigha said that the defendant publicly assaulted the complainant, Kunle Odusola by beating him up and tore his cloth during an argument.
The prosecutor alleged that the defendant also threatened to kill the complainant.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 249(d) and 86, Criminal Code, Cap.37, Vol.1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against him.
The Magistrate, Mr Mayowa Olanipekun, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100, 000 and one surety in like sum.
Olanipekun added that the surety must present evidence of two years tax clearance of the state government.
He adjourned the case until June 29, for further hearing. (NAN)
