2 men docked for alleged criminal trespass, mischief

Two men were on Monday docked in a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Wuse, Abuja for alleged criminal trespass and mischief.

The police charged Yakubu Emmanuel, 29, who lives in Gwarimpa Village, Abuja and Abdullahi Idris, 27, who lives in Kado, Abuja with criminal trespass and mischief.

They, However, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Prosecution Counsel, Ms Catherine Okafor, told the court that on May 20, the defendants trespassed into a building site belonging to Alhaji Shamsideen Ahmed and Jamilu Zubair, of Navy Quarters  and damaged barbwires used to secure the site.

The Defence Counsel, Muhammad Aliyu, applied for bail for his clients, citing sections 158 and 162 of the Administration of criminal justice Act (ACJA) saying bail is at the discretion of the Court.

Magistrate Ekpeyong Inyang, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of one million Naira each and two reliable sureties in like sum.

Inyang ordered that the sureties must Civil Servants on any Grade Level.

The magistrate also ordered that the sureties must produce a latter of introduction and staff Identity Card of Organization they work for.

Inyang adjourned the case until July 15 for hearing.(NAN)
