The police in Asaba on Friday dragged a 38-year-old man, Ekene Eze before an Asaba Magistrates’ court over alleged theft of beverages and body spray
Eze is standing trial on a one-count charge of theft .
He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Insp. Ifeayinwa Uwakah told the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 19, at Wanonye street in Asaba.
She alleged that the defendant stole peak milk ,gala, nano soap and Riggs body spray from the shop of a complainant one Mr Lucky Enima,.
The items are valued at N9,600.00.
The offence contravenes the provisions of section 390(9) of the Criminal Law of Delta 2006.
The Magistrate, Mrs Edith Anumodu, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
She ordered that the sureties must reside in Asaba and must provide two passport photographs and means of identification.
She adjourned the case untill July 8, for hearing.(NAN)
