The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), says Federal Government should focus in reforming the petroleum industry to fast track the nation’s  economic growth.

The National Publicity Secretary of IPMAN, Mr Chinedu Ukadike made the call in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Abuja.

According to him, reforming the petroleum industry would reduce dependence on imported petroleum products, and stimulate economic activities across the country.

Ukadike also called for urgent intervention in the nation’s pipeline network.

He further stressed that existing petroleum pipelines should be refurbished to guarantee the efficient transportation of petroleum products.

Mr Chinedu said that strengthening the petroleum sector, aligned with the economic objectives of the current administration and the expectations of Nigerians who desired sustainable economic growth.

He urged President Bola Tinubu administration to declare a state of emergency on the rehabilitation of state-owned refineries.

Ukadike said the Federal Government should also prioritize fixing Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna facilities, to ensure they were fully operational and contributed significantly to domestic fuel supply.

While reflecting on Nigeria’s democratic journey, he called on Nigerians to recommit themselves to national development.

Ukadike told NAN that while Nigeria had benefited from democratic governance, there was urgent need to address challenges in the oil and gas sector to support the economy.

“We remain hopeful that renewed commitment, policies, and strategic investments will help unlock the full potential of Nigeria’s oil and gas industry for the benefit of all citizens,” he said. (NAN)
