A 49-year-old woman, Ronke Yusuf, was on Monday arraigned before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, over alleged demolition of property valued at N70 million.
The defendant, whose address was not disclosed, is standing trial on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, demolition of property and breach of peace.
She, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, ASP Sikiru Opaleye, told the court that the defendant conspired with others at large to destroy a house valued at N70 million.
Opaleye alleged that the defendant and others, in June 2025, demolished a house at Itamerin, Oja’ba area of Ibadan, belonging to one Raji Jimoh and other members of his family.
He also alleged that the defendant conducted herself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace by allegedly mobilizing thugs to the property to disrupt public peace.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 249(d), 451 and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
Defence counsel, Mr Kola Oloyede, applied for bail of the defendant on liberal terms.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Olabisi Ogunkanmi, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N2.5 million with two sureties in like sum.
Ogunkanmi held that one of the sureties must be an officer of the Ibadan South-West Local Government, while the second must be a blood relative of the defendant.
She adjourned the case until Aug. 6 for hearing. (NAN).
