Answering questions from State House correspondents, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, shortly after meeting with President Buhari, the new IGP said the Nigerian police under his watch will be “governed by internationally recognized core values of policing” adding the focus will be on “the issue of integrity and accountability, issue of respect for diversity, issue of compassion, issues of ensuring that our streets, our neighbourhoods, our communities remain safe”.

He assured that the police under him “will do everything possible to ensure that we provide the best service to this country”.

Mr. Arase while introducing the new police boss appealed to Nigerians to give him the same support they gave to him while serving as the IGP

“I want to also appeal to you to give the same support that you gave to me to my successor. He is a younger man so I am sure he will be abreast with the contemporary policing issues,” Arase said?.
