A Jos Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday sentenced a 22-year-old laborer, Yahuza Suleiman to three years in prison for stabbing a man with a knife.
The convict pleaded guilty to the charge of causing hurt brought against him by the Police.
The Magistrate, Mrs Irene Pati sentenced the convict to three years in prison with an option of fine of N200,000.
She also ordered him to pay a compensation of N100,000 and in default, spend additional four months in prison.
While reviewing the facts, the prosecutor, Insp Ibrahim Gokwat told the court that the case was reported on May 31, at the Nassarawa Gwong Police Station by one Ahmad Abdullahi, the complainant.
Gokwat said the convict met the complainant by the roadside, demanded N40,000 and, before he could respond, stabbed him with a long knife, injuring his right hand and neck.
He said the offences contravened the Plateau Penal Code Law. (NAN).
