The Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Ebute Meta, Lagos, has upgraded its oxygen plant, with the aim of meeting its patients’ demands for the product. According to NAN, the upgraded plant produces 100 cylinders in 24 hours.

Mr Olorunfemi Ayoola, the Assistant Director, Corporate Services of the hospital, told NAN that before the upgrade, the hospital was producing 20 cylinders. Ayoola said that the upgrade had increased the volume of production required by the centre to meet the demands of its patients.

“This development was initiated by the Medical Director of the hospital to ensure the continuous availability of oxygen for patients who need it.

“It is also a means of generating more revenue for the hospital due to the commercial quantity of the products being produced, ” he said.

He also spoke on the other ongoing projects and renovation works in the hospital. Ayoola said that the ongoing construction of a three-storey building was meant to accommodate more patients on completion. He said that the building would serve as the accident and emergency ward, general outpatients’ clinic and a mini- theatre.

“These and many more are some of the measures being put in place by the management to render quality and efficient services to our patients, ” he said.

According to NAN, some of the roads in the hospital had also been fixed while one of the oldest buildings in the hospital is currently being roofed.
