Spanish reports are indicating that Arsenal’s current coach Mikel Arteta is among a list of managers under consideration to potentially take over as manager at Spanish club Barcelona.
Despite Arsenal’s difficult season, Arteta is held in high regard by Barca chiefs, and backed by his time as an assistant to Pep Guardiola during his first year at Manchester City.
Barcelona may well be looking to replace Current boss Ronald Koeman who is due to hold talks with club president Joan Laporta in the coming days over his future.
Koeman is under pressure after failing to win back the La Liga title this season before he took a swipe at the club’s board over what he felt was a lack of support.
Despite Arsenal’s difficult season, missing out on any title or hope for an European competition next season, Arteta’s amount of experience as coach may work against him, as he will have to beat off other potentials like Belgium boss Roberto Martinez, Ajax manager Erik Ten Hag, and Francisco Javier García Pimienta, who is currently in charge of Barca B.
