Wike threatens “No Work No Pay” over continued closure of courts in Rivers State

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has threatened to implement the no work no pay policy, if Judiciary workers fail to open the courts by the end of this month

Governor Wike who issued the threat at the valedictory ceremony of retired chief judge of Rivers  State, Adama Iyayi Laminkanra, expressed his displeasure that Judiciary staff would continue to lock the courts even when he was implementing the financial autonomy demand for the Judiciary.

On her part Retired Justice Iyayi Adanma Laminkanra, a former Rivers state Chief Judge, said Governor Nyesom Wike has complied with the Financial autonomy for Judiciary in the state even before the JUSUN strike

Laminkanra who supported the idea of autonomy for the judiciary  however took a swipe at some lawyers on their role in the strike particularly the chairman of the Eastern Bar Forum Mr S. Longwilliam who gave her a 24 hour ultimatum to comment on the Rivers  judiciary autonomy status.

She also frowned and berated the leadership of the Rivers State Judiciary staff workers on how they  went about the strike action describing their attitude as self serving.
