Warri Wolves have appointed Samson Omiponle, former Coach of Ekiti United Football Club, as its new Technical Adviser ahead of the 2021/2022 Nigeria National League (NNL) camping.
The Secretary of Ekiti United, the state-owned football club, Ayodeji Olowolafe, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Ado-Ekiti.
Ayodeji said; “Former Ekiti United Football Club has been appointed as the new technical adviser of Warri Wolves, after agreeing on personal terms.”
The statement added that Omiponle, who had been with Ekiti United FC for more than two seasons, guided the team to second place in the 2021 NNL.
It further said the former coach took over the headship of the team following the departure of coach Ayodeji Ayeni, who joined Sunshine Stars of Akure, Ondo State, last season.
Olowolafe described Omiponle as a CAF B licensed coach, who began his coaching career in England before moving to Nigeria where he tutored some Lagos football teams and later came to join Ekiti United FC.
The statement also said, biologically, Warri wolves deal was like a home coming for the tactician, as his mother was of the Isoko extraction in Delta and paternally from Ekiti.
Ekiti United management, therefore, wishes Coach Samson Omiponle the best in his coaching career and new endevour. (NAN)
