A Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State, on Friday sentenced a 26-year-old man, Maxwell Onwe, to three weeks of community service for breaking into an apartment.
Onwe, of no fixed address, had pleaded guilty to a charge of breaking in.
The Magistrate, Mrs M. I. Dan-Oni, convicted and sentenced him and warned him to stay away from crime.
She held that Onwe should carry out five hours of community service daily within the court’s premises for three weeks.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Courage Ekhueorohan, told the court that Onwe committed the offence on July 12, at No. 18, Funsho Williams Ave., by Alaka Bus Stop, Surulere.
He said that Onwe jumped the fence of the building and broke into an apartment where he was caught and taken to a police station.
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravenes Section 52 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015
