Aminu-Waziri-Tambuwal_fp1-300x168A dramatic move by some  members of the All Progressives Congress (APC)  to change the
leadership of the House of Representatives was truncated by the wise counsel of Speaker Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, who reminded his colleagues that the matter precipitated by the defection of six legislators Tuesday is still in court.

The APC members had sought the removal of  the majority leader of the House of Representatives,  Hon. Mulikat Akande-Adeola,  and  her deputy ,Leo Ogor.

With the defection, the APC, whose strength previously stood at 179 is now up to 181, leaving the PDP with 156.

The remaining 23 now belong to other opposition parties in the House.

Deputy Minority Leader, Hon. Suleiman Kawu (APC, Kano) had raised a point of order citing Order 6 rule 7 under matters of privileges, after the defection of the six members was announced on the floor of the House.

Kawu argued that there should be a change of leadership given the fact that the APC had assumed majority in the house.
