Vice – Chancellor, Federal University, Dutsin-Ma bags agricultural fellowship

Prof. Armaya’u Hamisu-Bichi, Vice – Chancellor, Federal University, Dutsin-Ma, Katsina State, has been bestowed with the  2021 Fellowship of the Agricultural Society of Nigeria (FASN).

This is contained in a press statement by Director of Press and Public Relations of the university, Habibu Matazu on Wednesday in Abuja.

The statement announced that Hamisu-Bichi was inducted at the 55th annual conference of the Society held at the Federal Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State, on Tuesday.

“The 2021 Fellowship Award Certificate was presented to the Vice – Chancellor in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the Agricultural Society of Nigeria and agricultural development in country.

“The Agricultural Society of Nigeria (ASN) is one of the oldest agricultural based societies established in 1962 by the pioneer staff of Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ibadan, Nigeria.

“It is established among other things, to foster the pursuit and understanding of both basic and applied agricultural sciences in the country,’’ it explained.

According to the statement, ASN also promotes the interest of agricultural scientists, farmers and others connected with the agricultural industry.

“Hamisu-Bichi is also a member of various professional associations that including, Network of Tropical Aquaculture Scientists, African Fishery Society and Nigeria Association of Aquatic Scientists.

“Other professional associations he belongs to are: Catfish Farmers Association of Nigeria. Fisheries Society of Nigeria, Tilapia Farmers Association and Nigerian Society for Animal Production,” it said. (NAN).
