The Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) in Ogun, has appealed to companies operating in around Sango-Ota to remove faulty vehicles on the highways to ease the ongoing palliative works by the Ogun government.

The Sango-Ota Area Commander of TRACE, Mr. Adekunle Ajibade, made the appeal in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday, in Ota, Ogun.

Ajibade said the appeal became necessary as it was observed that some broken down vehicles were not given urgent attention and removed from the roads.

This, he said, would disturb the engineers carrying out construction works and upgrading the roads.

He added that this would also disturb the vehicles going to and from Agbara, Atan, Lagos and Benin Republic, among others.

Ajibade said some of crashes which claimed lives of people could be as a result of the presence of the faulty vehicles on the roads.

“TRACE is, therefore, appealing to companies around Sango-Ota and its environs to remove their faulty vehicles in order to ease the ongoing palliative works.

“In addition, we urge them to always put C-Caution, especially when their vehicles break down to prevent on-coming vehicles from ramming into them,” he said.

Ajibade cautioned companies against employing under-aged drivers in order to minimize the road crashes.

He also urged them to train their drivers regularly and ensure that they have all the required particulars and drivers’ license before putting vehicles on the highways.

The TRACE warned drivers against indiscriminate parking, urging them to go to their designated motor parks.

NAN reports that the Ogun State government had on Oct. 24, commenced massive palliative works to address the deplorable condition of roads on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway and its environs. (NAN)
