apcThe All Progressives Congress (APC), Abia State chapter has said that their agents and  those of other parties were harassed, brutalized, locked up and forced to sign doctored election results at gun-point allegedly by agents of the state government, who connived with security operatives and INEC during last Saturday’s polls.

They called on the Commissioner of Police, Directorate of State Security (DSS) and the military to call their men to order, stating that they will resist any act of intimidation, harassment and brutality by the state government during the forth-coming elections.

The APC requested that security operatives should treat everyone equal, cautioning those who worked against democracy on March 28 to note that it will never be the same again, saying: ‘Enough is enough’.

The party stated this through their state Chairman, Hon. Donatus Nwankpa, while briefing the press on the party’s preparedness for the elections.

He said Abia cannot afford to run politics of opposition, considering that the elevated position of the Senate Presidency zoned to South-East is almost eluding them as a result of alleged conspiracy between the electoral body and the PDP governments in the South-East.

He noted that Abia cannot afford to continue to remain in the wilderness and at the back door of national development, adding that APC is committed to bringing Abia as a front-runner into the APC main fold as APC state by electing its candidate, Dr Chinenye Nyerere Anyim next Saturday.

“The APC in Abia State condemns in strong terms the conduct and manner of conducting the March 28 National Assembly elections, among the shortcomings are the late arrival of electoral materials, maltreatment of our agents by security agencies in conspiracy with personnel of state government and the intolerance shown by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC),” he said.
