Frontline social rights crusader, Comrade Zulu Ofoelue has dumped the MTN network over the xenophobic attacks of non-South Africans in South Africa.
Ofoelue, who took his boycott protest against South African products visited Etisalat office in Enugu Tuesday, 21st April, where he ported his MTN line to Etisalat.
Zulu, who also is one of the think-thanks of Ohanaeze Youth Council, the global youth group of Igbos, had called for mass boycott of South African companies and products over the killings, a statement he made as response to a boycott call on his Facebook wall. He stated: “I will port to another network first thing tomorrow. I will also dump my DSTV decoder. Let’s all send a message to South Africa that what they are doing is wrong”.
Zulu, who says his name has got nothing to do with the South African tribe with a similar name, told Quick News Africa that it’s time Nigerians begin to really stand up and act. He also appealed to Nigerians in South Africa to be very cautious as to avoid being victims of the attacks, but however blamed the Nigerian government for encouraging mass migrations to other nations due to bad governance.
He also said he has used the MTN network since 2004, making 2015 11 years since he purchased his SIM card and became a loyal customer of the South African company.
In his latest Facebook update, the social activist wrote: “#Boycotting_South_Africa
Today I ported out of MTN of South Africa to Etisalat in protest over the xenophobic killings by South Africans and their government’s obvious support for the attacks.
It’s unfortunate that Jonathan’s government have persisted in its usual sluggish reaction to such urgent matters and are yet to come up with a firm position; a sanction that would bring these people to their senses and put a stop to this evil.
The aggregate of we the masses is the strongest and most efficient government of all. So we can individually take action in spite of our elected personnel. When we sanction a system, no one can protect it.
I therefore call on all black Afrikans to, as a matter of urgency boycott all South African companies and products. I have left MTN, broken their sim card and joined Etisalat.
I’ll dump their Go TV by the time I get to PH next week.
So
#Boycott_All_South_African_Products NOW!
MTN, DSTV ETC
