ABUJA – The Presidency has rebutted allegations claiming that President Bola Tinubu provided cash to National Assembly members as festive palliatives for their constituencies and senatorial districts. In a statement released on Sunday by Dada Olusegun, the Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, it was clarified that President Tinubu distributed rice and other food items, constituting palliatives and Constituency Projects valued at N100 million per Federal Constituency and N200 million per Senatorial Constituency.

Olusegun explained that the food items were procured through the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and then delivered to National Assembly members, identified as being closest to ordinary Nigerians across the nation.

Dismissive of claims that some National Assembly members were hoarding the palliatives, Olusegun emphasized that distribution could only occur once the items were received, and logistical challenges were factors influencing the process. He urged Nigerians to disregard any misinformation or propaganda suggesting otherwise.

In his statement, Olusegun wrote, “Clarification on the distributed NASS palliatives by the Presidency during the festive period.”
