The names of nominees on the ministerial list have started to trickle in, and reactions are rolling in from Nigerians on social media.
The nominees who made the much awaited ministerial list have started to trickle in, and reactions are rolling in from Nigerians on social media.
The man getting the largest share of the conversation is the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.
Alhaji Mohammed is also a fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and worked as Public Relations Officer for almost 10 years with the Nigerian Airport Authority, now Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
Here are some reactions of Nigerians on social media which was monitored by our correspondent, also tongue-lashed is the immediate past governor of Rivers State, Hon. Chibuike Amaechi.
Stanley Chukwumezie: If Amaechi is on that list it means Nigeria is doomed. The same man who could not complete Rivers monorail.
Emmanuel Esegha: So pls tell me how buhari intends to fight corruption? Firstly I thought he said he would down size on ministries so why this many ministers?
Secondly he is appointing the same old thieves. eg ameachi.
Some Nigerians however expressed their displeasure over the development.
Buhari Sam Musa: Nigeria is a nation that doesn’t have plans for the future, Rubbish,we need technocrats.
Musa however got a reply from his friend saying: you need technocrat? Is lair Muhammad not a technocrat from the lying sector? Is Rotimi Ameachi not a technocrat from the looting sector as well as the noise making sector? These guy’s are technocrats from the above mentioned sectors
I have already spotted out 2 noise maker’s already from the noise maker’s list.
1. Ameachi
2. Lying Muhammad
Anderson Ephraim: Buhari you said you will not appoint corrupt officials, pls answer me Rotimi Amaechi is not corrupt abi??
Patrick Wilson: Amaechi, Kayode Fayemi, Audu Ogbeh and Lai Mohammed are the wrong choice as a Nigeria minister considering the change wave.
Prince Damian Okojie: Jonathan gave worst thieves juicy appointments beside, no prove of clear facts about Amaechi, Fashola, Fayemi etc stealing,Wike is known to be a noise maker and trying to dent Amaechi’s name/political image because Amaechi crushed Jonathan and his Jezebel wife out of Aso Rock so,their son (Wike) took the other way to revenge by spoiling Amaechi’s name which didn’t work for him and here is Lilian attacking PMB for having the names of Amaechi, Fahsola, Fayemi, Lai etc on his ministerial list… Ofcourse no way anyone will loot again so, they will be appointed by God’s grace to work for Buhari to make history in Nigeria… No prove of them stealing so you all should hit the railway and wait for APC train to crush you all because of hate in your blood. Amaechi is 100% a sure man love him or hate him, God is the one who appoints a man to rule and not human… If God didn’t ordain Buhari to rule , he will not have won that election with the trillions PDP pumped in to run APC over and if God never loved Amaechi, Jonathan would have won and Amaechi would have been running from one place to another but God had mercy on him and the masses and PDP became an opposition instead of the ruling party which APC were opposition to a year ago that is how great God works.. A servant is now the master of the palace while the master is now a servant… God is great!
Fejiro Oliver: For months, Nigeria President, Buhari, kept the world especially Nigerians waiting for those who will form his cabinet. He dazzled us with words that anyone who have tasted the waters of corruption cannot sit in the same arena with him. To him, ‘Blessed is the man who does not sit in the seat of the scornful’, and thus he must not be seen with them. In our minds, we have concluded that only men of integrity will make the list after the long wait. We concluded that a man who used N78 million to build a personal website with state fund will not scale through. We were expecting Angels among us. Ok, maybe we
expected so much; we were expecting saints. But what did we see on his partial list? Same old bandits and criminals who formed the PDP that the APC condemned. Same armed robbers who looted our
treasury dominated the list of his ministers. No this is not CHANGE but REWARD for cronies. We cannot continue in same old ways with same old leaders when the world is giving powers to the youth. The youths voted in the change yet the old men are
the beneficiaries. Buhari’s ministerial list is the worst to come out, considering the wait he made us go through. These are not saints but demons. Oh yes, Buhari goofed.
Clement Ehis Iuleomien: by and large, i think d list is ok. u dont expect Buhari To bring people from d moom to become ministers in nigeria. naturally in a presidential system, compesate those who helped u secure victory at the poll, not ur enemies. so people shud stop cryin wolf,
Mosco Depay Nnamdi Buhari: your excellency President Buhari I salute u for making this Monkeys that worked and rigged for u ministers of the niZOOria, but u omit one name, Abubakar Shekua, the honorable minister of defense
Austin Emy: It was rather unfortunate and shameful, after Buhari has wasted four months: In searching for noisemakers in APC, these are the names, he can come up with. He should still continue to be a sole administrator. Senators should reject all these past governors who are corrupt. They are not worthy to hold any public office. Total display of incompetency and lack governance. What a shame for APC.
Austin Akaninyene: A return on their investment that’s all. This list is not worth all the wait! The youths shld be ashamed of theirselves bcos nigeria is a recycling bin! So borehole of 170 million by Fashola is a clean project to buhari???
Mmadubuko K Johnkingsley: GMB promised Technocrats as Ministers. But what we have here are internally displaced politicians – Amaechi, Ibeto, Al Hassan, Ngige, Fayemi #RudeJoke. Which way nigeria.
Idu Julie: I pity all this so called youth who are supporting this recycling of government and some youth even called themselves failure by saying they are in experience to be a minister, shame unto you all that is supporting these politician, go and find out how old was buhari when he became head of state and those politician’s how old was they when they started ruling Nigeria
Nonso Onyebuchi: So this are the angels Buhari have been searching since 5months! Oh oh oh!!! What a pity! Nigeria ntoor!!!
Kingsley Udoh: Amaechi, Liar Mohammed, Fashola those are the wrong Name president made a mistake.
Vincent Ikemelu: Buhari jst released a compensation list, not ministerial list
Abubakar Abdulrahman Olatunji Aremu: Where is the change dis man promise nigeria amaechi, fashola, fayemi&co making the list has shows dt buhari has scam nigeria with fighting corruption God will intervene on dis matter are dey d only citizen dt can do d job useless country stealing is not corruption again many young uncoruppt graduate people they bt they can’t appoint them I think buhari has give-up on his war against corruption no more sellective probing probe all corrupt nigerian dt loot and steal our money bt u hav fall my hand.
Idris Banoda Oheenoyi: AMECHI my hero the man dat pull dow PDP nd GEJ.
Kingsley Ese Ikenegbe: Nigeria in a Cross-road again. It is getting clearer to many that nothing has changed in the so called Change slogan. Looking at the ministerial list clearly shown that is old wine in New bottle. But why would it take President Buhari several months to name same people with criminal charges around him and called it change. I’m yet to meet or see anybody that’ll convince me that President Buhari is really serious about his fighting corruption jamboree. Is he going to tell Nigerians that there are no competent, corrupt free, young minds and technocrats in Nigeria other than these liabilities to Nigeria? God save Nigeria.
Group Petitions Buhari Over Amaechi
An anti-corruption group, Integrity Group, has filed a petition to President Muhammadu Buhari and the Senate protesting the nomination of the immediate past Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, as a ministerial nominee, citing allegations of fraudulent practices during his tenure as the governor of the state.
The group argue that Amaechi is yet clear his name over allegations of fraud concerning the sale of the state power plants and conversion of proceeds running into $302 million, unlawful payment of over
N4 billion to Clinoriv Specialist Hospital and unlawful enrichment of a firm, Messrs Collect Nigeria Ltd., with public funds amounting to over N1.5 billion.
In an address in a press briefing in Abuja today, the Publicity Director of Integrity Group, Livingstone Wechie, allege that Amaechi is currently being investigated by anti-corruption agencies for unlawful
enrichment and conversion of over N70 billion state resources and as such, should not be made a minister in the country.
Wechie added that Amaechi has resisted efforts to get him to explain the circumstances regarding the monies to the people of Rivers State, as he failed to appear before the recent Justice Omereji-led Judicial Commission of Enquiry set up by the state government.
