Embrace insurance to secure lives, property, Insurance Brokers’ Council advises Nigerians

The Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) has advised individuals and corporate bodies to embrace insurance in view of the current uncertain and harsh economic climate in the country.

The President of NCRIB, Mr. Babatunde Oguntade, advised on the sidelines of the investiture of the council’s 14th Chairman, Western Area Committee, and award of excellence on Friday in Osogbo.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event had as its theme “Breaking Barriers through Partnerships and Fraternity.”

Oguntade said that while setbacks and losses, either in the economy, manpower, or other calibrations, might not be avoided, he said that the best antidote to all of them was insurance.

He said that the council would continue to preach the gospel of insurance at both micro and macro levels to ensure that insured victims were indemnified when losses occurred.

“There are many insurance policies that can put businesses in space, such as business interruption insurance, among others.

Insurance brokers are available to create awareness and assist within their ambit in getting values and also adding values for everybody willing to key into partnership with us,” Oguntade said.

According to him, the council will continue to create and dispense values and also stand, through thick and thin, with any insured entity from the inception of the policy through the crystallization of laws and risk moments.

He commended the state government under the leadership of Gov. Ademola Adeleke for creating a conducive environment through an effective partnership with the council.

Oguntade said Adeleke’s support had further encouraged more members from other states to register with the state government, translating into more revenue, more jobs, and other economic benefits.

Speaking earlier, Mr. Gafaar Alamu, Chairman of the Council, Western Area Committee, said plans were on to ensure that more business outlets across western states got insured and secured.

Alamu stated that the council would further promote awareness, which would crystallize into more business opportunities with the available windows to ensure insurance business development.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Guest Speaker, Prof. Festus Epetimehin, delivered a lecture at the occasion.

Epetimehin, a professor of risk management and insurance at Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU), Ikeji-Arakeji, Osun, spoke on the topic “Breaking Barriers through Partnerships and Fraternity.” (NAN)
