Chef docked for allegedly stealing employer’s clothes, jewelry

A chef, Paul Aloghou, was on Thursday docked in a Life Camp Chief Magistrates’ Court in Abuja, for allegedly stealing his employer’s clothes, jewelry and foreign currency.

‎The police charged Aloghu, who resides in Wuye, Abuja with housebreaking and theft.

‎The defendant, however, pleaded guilty to the charge.

‎The Prosecution Counsel, Charity Nwachukwu told the court that the complainant, Adanna Steinacker of Coral residence Wuye, reported the matter at the Wuye Police Station on April 22.

‎Nwachukwu informed the court that during police investigation, the defendant confessed  he broke into the complainant’s bedroom and metal safe and stole the jewelry and foreign currency worth N9 million .

‎The prosecution said that the defendant traveled to Lagos but was later apprehended.

She said that the stolen jewelry was recovered from the defendant.

‎The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 347 and 287 of the panel code.

‎The Chief Magistrate, Musa Jobbo, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000 with 2 sureties in like sum.

‎He ordered that one of the surety  must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and provide reliable means of identification.

‎Jobbo adjourned the matter until July 1 for hearing. (NAN)
