Ikeja, Sept. 11, 2025 (NAN) An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court has ordered the remand of two men, Olanrewaju Adio and Ayokunle Adeoti, for alleged unlawful possession of firearms and conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace.
The defendants, Adio, 43, and Adeoti, 42, both residents of Obantoko, Ogun, were arraigned before Magistrate L.A. Owolabi on a four-count charge of conspiracy, unlawful possession of firearms and disturbing public peace.
She told the court that the duo were found in unlawful possession of a locally made, cut-to-size single-barrel gun with 28 live cartridges, as well as a locally made revolver pistol.
The prosecutor said that the defendants could not provide a satisfactory explanation for the firearms.
According to her, the offences contravene Sections 168(d), 330(d) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Following a police request, the magistrate ordered their remand in custody for 16 days pending further investigation.
Owolabi granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 each, with two responsible sureties each in like sum.
He ordered that the sureties must present evidence of tax payment to the state government and proof of residence within Lagos State.
The case was adjourned until Oct. 2 for hearing. (NAN)
