Court remands 4 jobless men for alleged robbery

An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday  ordered that four unemployed men be remanded for alleged robbery.

The police charged Ishola Rilwan, 27; Isiaka Sheriff, 23; Yusuf Ifekoya, 22 and Edward Chima, 25, with conspiracy and robbery.

Magistrate  L.A. Owolabi, who did not take the plea of the suspects, ordered that they should be remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending legal advice from the Lagos State Department of Public Prosecution, (DPP).

Owolabi adjourned the case until Feb. 15 for mention.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Innocent Odugbo alleged the suspects armed themselves with cutlasses and robbed  Amadu Hayatu of  valuables worth N326,000.

Odugbo told the court the suspects committed the offence with others at large on Dec. 14  at 2 a.m. on Odofin Street, Ajegunle, Lagos.

He said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 297(1)(2)(a)(b), 299 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State. (NAN)
