Diamond League athletics will hold two events in China in 2022 as it returns to the Asian country following a two-year break due to the coronavirus.
A July 30 date in Shanghai was already agreed, but track and field chiefs on Tuesday said a second meeting in Shenzen on August 6 has also been scheduled.
A calendar with 14 meets for 2022 was released in November, but with Shenzen missing.
The double return to China is a slight surprise, given heavy COVID-19 restrictions there, especially surrounding February’s Beijing Winter Olympics.
The Diamond League begins on May 13 in Doha and ends with a two-day finale in Zurich on Sept. 7 and Sept. 8.
On May 28, athletes will have the chance to test out the track in Eugene before the US city hosts the World Championships from July 15 to July 24.(dpa/NAN)
