Sango-Ota (Ogun), Jan. 28, 2026 (NAN) A 21-year-old man, Sodiq Abubakar, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun, for allegedly damaging an excavator machine component valued at N5 million.
Abubakar, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of malicious damage and theft.
The, defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecutor, ASP E.O.Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant committed the offence in Nov. 10, 2025 at about 1.30 p.m., at Arobieye, Iju bridge, Canaanland, Ota, Ogun.
Adaraloye alleged that the defendant maliciously damaged an excavator machine component, valued at N5 million, belonging to Laralek Ultimate Limited.
He added that the defendant also stole two big batteries, valued at N500,000.
The prosecutor said that, the offences contravene Sections 390 and 451 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.O.Fadairo, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum.
Fadairo said that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to the Ogun Government.
She adjourned the case until Feb.5, for further hearing. (NAN)
