A 25-year-old man, Iwunze Frank, on Wednesday, appeared before an Ikorodu Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, for allegedly assaulting a neighbor.
The defendant, whose address was not stated, is standing trial on one-count charge of assault.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Asp. Aminu Isaac, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 7, at No 34, Abidoye St., around first gate area of Ikorodu.
He alleged that following a misunderstanding, the defendant dealt a blow to the upper eye of his neighbor, one Mr Kingsley Ajevawa, which cause him serious injury.
He said that the defendant was consequently arrested by the police after a report was made by the complainant.
The offence contravenes the provisions of sections 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Mr B.A. Sonuga, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000, with two sureties in like sum.
He ordered that the addresses of the sureties must be verified.
The court adjourned the case until May 7, for mention. (NAN)
