The police in Kano on Friday, brought a 27 year-old man, Muhammed Hamisu, before a Sharia Court sitting in Kano for allegedly stealing 24 pieces of fabrics worth N74,000.
The defendant, who lives in Mandawari Quarters Kano, is charged with theft.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecution counsel, Insp Abdullahi Wada, told the court that the complainant, Lawal Muhammed, who resides in Sani Mainage Quarters, reported the matter at Mandawari Police Station, Kano, on April 30.
Wada alleged that the defendant entered the complainant’s shop and stole 24 pieces of fabrics worth N74,000.
The Judge, Malam Umar Lawal-Abubakar, ordered the defendant to be remanded in correctional centre and adjourned the case until May 29 for mention. (NAN)
