Man, 34, arraigned for allegedly stealing N750,000

Sango-Ota (Ogun), Feb. 4, 2026 (NAN) A 34-year-old man, Gbenga Obadimu, on Wednesday appeared before an Ota Magistrates ‘Court in Ogun, for allegedly stealing a cash sum of N750,000

Obadimu, whose address was not provided, is standing trial on a charge of stealing.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor,ASP E.O Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Nov.27, 2025, at about 1.00 p.m. at No. 16, Unity Close in Sango-Ota.

He alleged that the defendant stole the sum of N750,000, belonging to a complainant, one Mr Adeyinka Gbenga.

According to the prosecution, the defendant was eventually arrested following investigation by the police and charged to court.

He said that the offence contravenes the provisions of Section 390(9) of the Criminal Law of Ogun State, 2006.

The Magistrate, Mrs O.O Fadairo, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.

Fadairo held that the surety must resides within the court’s jurisdiction and must be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.

She adjourned the case until Feb.12 for fhearing.(NAN)
