The police on Tuesday, dragged a 35-year-old man, Kushimore Adewale before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun, for allegedly breaking into a shop to steal valuable items worth N11.9 million.
Adewale, whose address was not provided, had pleaded not guilty to a three-count charge of conspiracy, burglary and stealing.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, ASP E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant conspired with others now at large to commit the offences at Km 35, Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, by Sugar Bus-Stop, Ijoko, Ota.
He alleged that the defendant and his accomplices conspired to break into a shop and stole 50 pieces of Techno Phones, 80 pieces of power bank, 76 pieces of Itel Phone and other valuable items worth N11.9 million.
The items are said to be owned by one Abiola Feyisara.
The offences contravene the provisions of Sections 390,(9), 412 and 516 of the Criminal Law of Ogun State, 2006.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.O.Fadairo, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of one million naira with one surety in like sum.
Fadairo ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to the state government.
He adjourned the case until June 29, for hearing. (NAN)
